BUSHENYI: Angry residents in Rushoroza cell, Kizinda in Bushenyi district have lynched to death a un identified suspected banana thief.
Sp Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson has confirmed that the incident happened on Saturday 12th November 2022 at around 5:30pm at Rushoroza cell, Kizinda.
Tumusiime says, the incident was reported to Police by Tumwebaze Kenneth, GISO Kizinda-Kigoma Town council who informed the Kizinda police OC Station IP Tumwesigire Joram that there was a mob justice at Rushoroza cell.
Tumusiime added that after landing on information, Police rushed to the scene and on arrival, they found the deceased lying along the road next to the banana plantation unconscious.
He told journalists that the deceased had cut a bunch of banana (matooke).
He stressed that police recovered a panga and a bicycle believed to be for the deceased.
He added that the victim was rushed to Bushenyi Health Centre IV where he was pronounced dead at 8pm.
He noted, the body was further conveyed to Kitagata Hospital mortuary pending postmortem as police commence investigations.
