KABALE – Police in Kabale District apprehended Ambrose Rukundo, a 31-year-old teacher at Triple M Primary School and a resident of Kibuzije village, Rubanda district.
Rukundo is accused of engaging in sexual activity with a 17-year-old Pupil from the same school.
The incident was reported by 40-year-old Sam Katama, a resident of Karushanga village, Kaharo sub-county, Kabale district.
According to the police statement dated 21/10/2023, around 10:00 PM at Ahamurambi village, Kaharo sub-county, the suspect summoned the victim to the staff room under the pretext of fetching books, where he allegedly coerced her into a sexual act.
Notably, the police report states that the suspect did not use protection during the act, and after the incident, he allegedly gave the victim 5,000/= and instructed her to keep silent.
The victim reported the incident to her father, who then filed a complaint at Njanja Police station, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, revealed that the scene of the crime was visited and examined by Deputy Superintendent Mukama Hakim from the Criminal Investigations Department, along with the team.
They conducted a sketch plan, obtained relevant statements from witnesses, and ensured the victim underwent an examination.
