Police in Kabale District have arrested three students of Kabale University who were captured in a viral video torturing a 19-year-old girl accused of stealing a phone and money.
The suspects have been identified as Turyatunga Frugence (28), Muhoozi Denis (24), and Tindyebwa Daudi. They allegedly assaulted Princess Kyampeire, accusing her of stealing an Itel phone and an undisclosed sum of money from Anita Kwarisima, a student of Uganda College of Commerce and resident of Kirigime Cell, Mwanjari Ward, Southern Division in Kabale Municipality.
According to police, the incident occurred on September 19, 2025, after the suspects claimed Kyampeire had stolen the items the previous evening at around 5:00 pm.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, confirmed the arrests on Monday, noting that the suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
Maate cautioned the public against acts of mob justice and lawlessness, urging citizens to always seek help from local leaders or relevant authorities when faced with such disputes.
