KABALE – A man has murdered his wife and also committed suicide by Poisoning in Maziba Sub County, Ndorwa East County of Kabale District.
The deceased identified as Robert Turyahikayo, in his 50s, took the life of his wife, Adrine Mugabirwe, in her 40s, before succumbing to self-inflicted poisoning. Both were residents of Mwendo, Nyanja Parish in Maziba Sub County.
The unsettling event transpired on Friday evening at approximately 6:30 PM, as revealed by Onesmus Mutungi, the LC3 Chairman for Maziba Sub County. Mutungi informed our reporter that the man, after poisoning himself, was discovered in a nearby bush and tragically passed away while police officers were preparing to transport him to Maziba Health Center IV for medical intervention.
Mutungi, attributing the incident to domestic violence, disclosed that the deceased couple had long-standing misunderstandings and had reported their grievances to various authorities. Expressing concern about the escalating cases of domestic violence in the area, Mutungi called for collaborative efforts among leaders and stakeholders to address this alarming trend.
