KISORO: The African Development Bank (ADB) has reportedly given the green light for the government of Uganda to pursue a loan aimed at upgrading tourism roads in Bukimbiri County, as confirmed by the area MP, Hon. Eddie Kwizera Waguhungu.
During an exclusive interview with our reporter on Tuesday, Hon. Kwizera disclosed that the proposed project entails tarmacking over 72KM of roads stretching from Kisoro Municipality to Nkuringo town council, passing through Rubuguri town council and then extending to Katojo in Muko sub-county, Rubanda district.
This development comes shortly after the government terminated its contract with the DOTTI services company, which was initially tasked with tarmacking the roads but faced delays due to financial constraints.
Hon. Kwizera emphasized that the ADB regards the tourism roads in Bukimbiri County as highly significant, even more so than other projects it is currently funding, such as the road from Katuna to Bunyonyi in Kabale district. Additionally, he expressed his ongoing efforts to advocate for the opening of the Nteko-Buhoma road along the Uganda-DRC border.
