The Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda, Prof. Augustus Nuwagaba, on Wednesday inspected the ongoing construction of the Prof. Tumusiime Mutebile Economics Resource Centre at Kabale University in Kabale District.
Prof. Nuwagaba was received and guided around the site by a team from the university management, led by Prof. Johny Mugisha, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
In a statement shared on its official social media platforms, Kabale University described the visit as an honour, noting that the Deputy Governor’s inspection underscored the importance of the project.
“The University was honored to receive Prof. Nuwagaba, who inspected the Prof. Tumusiime Mutebile Economics Resource Centre currently under construction,” the statement read.
Prof. Nuwagaba said he was impressed with the progress of the works and the broader developments taking place at the centre.
He noted that the facility will play a vital role in supporting teaching, research, and the promotion of the Economics discipline in the country.
According to the University’s Principal Communications and Branding Officer, Godfrey Ssempungu, the facility is expected to significantly enhance the quality of education by offering students an interactive and modern learning environment.
The centre, named after the late Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile, former Governor of the Bank of Uganda and a distinguished economist, is part of Kabale University’s efforts to strengthen economics education and research in the region.
The resource centre is part of the legacy of the late Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile, who established a Chair of Economics through funding from the Bank of Uganda.
This initiative has been instrumental in strengthening the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences at Kabale University and in advancing economic research and knowledge dissemination in Uganda.
