KISORO: Residents of Mugobwa, Bikokora, and Mwumba in Nkuringo town council have praised their Member of Parliament, Hon. Eddie Kwizera Wa-Gahungu, for fulfilling his promise to supply the area with electricity.

During his visit to Bikokora village on May 13, 2024, as part of his Bukimbiri county tour, Hon. Wa-Gahungu assured residents that he would collaborate with the relevant authorities to expedite the electricity supply, as the wiring had already been completed.

Locals who spoke to the reporter during an impromptu visit confirmed that the long-awaited electricity connection has been achieved. However, the area remains in darkness because residents are unsure of the next steps to access power in their homes. Mujanama Jack, a local leader and resident of Bikokora village, expressed gratitude to Hon. Wa-Gahungu for his influential role but emphasized the need for locals to be educated on utilizing the electricity.

Retired Reverend Mbereye Christopher, a resident of Mugobwa cell, stated that it is a great honor for these villages to be connected to electricity, as it will spur development in the area. He also called for compensation for those whose properties were damaged during the wiring process.
