The Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE), in partnership with the World Bank, is stepping up efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and climate resilience in Kanungu District through the Irrigation for Climate Resilience Project (ICRP).

A cornerstone of this initiative is the Matanda Irrigation Scheme, which features a dam and an off-farm pipe network designed to supply water to irrigation areas in Matanda, Kihihi Subcounty, Nyanga Subcounty, and parts of Kihihi Town Council.

On Monday, Kanungu District hosted a pre-bid site visit for prospective construction firms interested in the Matanda Irrigation Scheme Off-Farm Pipe Network project. The visit, following the official call for bids launched on 17th October 2025, allowed participants to assess the site, identify potential material sources, and clarify technical and logistical considerations.
