Nelson Tugume, a well-known local businessman and proprietor of Inspire Africa Coffee Factory, is currently under police investigation for allegedly constructing a road through private land without compensation in Ntungamo District.
On Friday morning, residents of Keina Cell in Nkongoro Parish, Nyabihoko Sub-county, Kajara County staged a peaceful protest, accusing Tugume of illegally grading a road through their land to access his coffee farm.
The residents claim the construction began without their consent and without any formal compensation arrangements.
Led by Iryn Kwesiga Rutahwiire, the affected community members voiced their grievances and called for urgent intervention from the relevant authorities.
In response, the residents filed a trespass complaint at Rwashamiire Police Station. The case has been registered under reference number SD Ref 08/07/03/2025.
