KASESE: Bwera Government General Hospital in Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council, Bukonzo County West, is currently stuck with an unclaimed body.
Enos Bwambale, the Mortuary Attendant, confirmed to our reporter that the body belongs to a 30-year-old man named Masudi Mumbere, who was brought to the hospital on Monday at 4:00 p.m.
According to reports from Kasese, a woman who claimed to be a relative of Mumbere immediately fled the facility after confirming that he had been admitted.
Bwambale explained that the woman, who had initially said she was going to return home to fetch items for the hospital, never came back.
Mumbere passed away on Friday at 4:00 a.m., after being diagnosed with Peritonitis, a condition characterized by the inflammation of the peritoneum, typically caused by an infection from a ruptured appendix or a hole in the bowel.
Mumbere is reported to be from Kitsutsu village, Bukangara Parish, Munkunyu Sub-county.
However, sources say that the local council chairperson from Kitsutsu village visited the mortuary and did not recognize the deceased.
In light of this, Bwambale is calling for anyone who might have a missing person to come to the hospital mortuary before the facility management proceeds with burying the unclaimed body.
