The Chairperson of LC III, Nakisunga Sub-County in Mukono District, Sekikubo Mubarak, has been charged before the Mukono Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly defrauding job seekers by promising them government employment.
Sekikubo appeared in court on Monday afternoon following joint investigations by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the Criminal Investigations Directorate, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. He faces charges of obtaining money by false pretence and conspiracy to defraud.
Prosecution alleges that between January and June 2025, while in Mukono Town, Sekikubo conspired with Mugerwa Ronald Saaku, the Probation and Welfare Officer of Lugazi Municipality and Dr. Wataba Saadi, who is still at large, to defraud Dr. Mukisa George William of Shs 38 million.
The trio allegedly claimed they could secure Dr. Mukisa a government job as a Medical Officer in Mukono District.
Investigators say the accused told the complainant that the money was to “facilitate” members of the Mukono District Service Commission to help him secure the job, a claim that turned out to be false.
Authorities have also revealed that there may be other victims who were defrauded under similar circumstances involving the same officials and some members of the District Service Commission.
Sekikubo has been remanded until November 4, 2025, as investigations continue.
