The session will be presided over by a panel of three Justices, Justice Fredrick Martin Stephen Egonda-Ntende, Justice Oscar Kihika, and Justice Jesse Byaruhanga Rugyema.
Ahead of the hearings, the Justices held a pre-hearing meeting on Wednesday to assess the court’s readiness and address any logistical or procedural gaps to ensure a smooth exercise.
The meeting was attended by Court Registrar Her Worship Rukundo Allen Owembabazi, representatives from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) led by Assistant DPP Kulu Idambi J.B. and other key court officials, including HW Akera Derrick Otim, HW Nanyanga Susan (Magistrate Grade I and Research Officer attached to the Justices), Wolimbwa Ivan (Systems Administrator) and Experito Ssebayigga (Clerk). Some appellants and their legal representatives joined the session virtually.
According to the cause list, Murder cases form the largest category, with 12 appeals, followed by Aggravated Defilement with 10.
The Court will also handle four Aggravated Robbery appeals, two Kidnap with Intent to Murder cases, and one each for Rape and Manslaughter.
Additionally, the State has filed an appeal in a case of Aggravated Defilement where the accused had been acquitted.
