Police in Greater Bushenyi have urged residents to celebrate Valentine’s Day responsibly and avoid turning joyful moments into regret.
Valentine’s Day, observed annually on February 14, is widely recognized as a day for expressing love, affection, and friendship through cards, flowers, chocolates, and other thoughtful gestures. The occasion is often marked by dinners, gift exchanges, and celebrations with partners, friends, and family.
In a message to the public, SP Tayebwa Apollo, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer for Greater Bushenyi, emphasized that while residents are free to celebrate, personal safety and security must remain a top priority.
He advised the public to drive responsibly and strictly adhere to traffic regulations. He also urged revelers to remain vigilant in crowded places, keep a close watch on their drinks and personal belongings, look out for friends and loved ones, and promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or through the established emergency lines.
“Our officers will be strategically deployed across the region to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for all Valentine’s Day celebrations. We count on your cooperation to help keep our communities safe,” SP Tayebwa said.
He added, “If you see something, say something. Together, we can keep the love alive and the peace intact.”
