KISORO: A total of six candidates have been duly nominated by the Independent Electoral Commission for the Kisoro District Woman Member of Parliament by-election.

The seat fell vacant following the death of the former Kisoro District Woman MP, Sarah Mateke, who passed away in early September due to heart complications. Her passing prompted the Independent Electoral Commission to declare the seat vacant and invite applications from interested candidates.

The nomination exercise began on Wednesday at the Kisoro District Headquarters, overseen by the District Returning Officer, Dan Nayebare. The Electoral Commission officially closed the nominations on Thursday with six candidates vying for the position.
