KABALE: Residents of Kabale Municipality are increasingly worried about the town’s street lights, which are flickering erratically, resembling disco lights.
The lights, intended to improve safety along the Kabale-Kisoro road, are instead causing concern. Their irregular flashing has raised fears of potential accidents and increased crime along the streets.
Boda Boda riders, shoe vendors, and food sellers at Eso report that for the past four months, the lights have failed to serve their purpose, becoming a source of distraction and danger, especially at night. Allan Turyatunga Bwashesha, chairman of the Kabale Boda Boda riders, said the flickering lights are causing frequent accidents, making it challenging for both Boda Boda riders and motor vehicle drivers to navigate the streets safely. Bwashesha added that pedestrian movement is also affected at night.
