KAMPALA: A delegation of 12 former leaders and members of the FDC has formally submitted an application to the Electoral Commission for the registration of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF).
The team, which included Kamateneti Ingrid Turinawe, the former FDC aspirant for Rukungiri Municipality, and Stanley Katembeya Tugume, former FDC mayoral candidate for Mbarara City, along with ten others, submitted the application on Tuesday in accordance with sections 6 and 7 of the Political Parties and Organizations Act.
The application was received by the Electoral Commission’s security registry in Kampala.
The proposed party’s slogan will be “Freedom for All; All for Freedom,” with a symbol of a mobile phone and party colors of White and royal blue.
This development follows recommendations from the FDC National Executive Committee (NEC), which advised the party to begin the process of dissolving itself in line with Article 36 of its constitution.
The decision comes amid growing internal tensions and a perceived need for a new political direction.
The NEC has outlined a clear path for the party’s dissolution, emphasizing that the move is necessary to sever ties with what it describes as “Najjanankumbi impostors.”
The proposal includes the transfer of the party’s assets and liabilities as part of the dissolution process, with final approval requiring a two-thirds majority vote from the National Delegates Conference or a Special Conference.
