Gladys highlighted that although the resources raised were modest, they have brought hope to families affected by Nodding Syndrome.

She added that next year’s event will aim to expand support, working closely with the district and media houses in Kitgum to mobilize more resources.

While their initial target was to support 100 households, they remain committed to increasing their reach.

Mr. Opwoya Wilson, Chief Executive Officer of YTY, revealed that nine patients affected by Nodding Syndrome passed away in 2024.

He called on the public to provide support for affected families and emphasized the need for justice, particularly for young girls who have been victims of sexual violence.

He also urged the district authorities and non-governmental organizations to conduct further research to understand why the prevalence of Nodding Syndrome continues to rise in Kitgum district.
