KISORO: Human rights defenders from Kisoro District, alongside stakeholders from the African Institute for Investigative Journalism (AIIJ), have called on the public to unite in the fight for their rights, emphasizing that cooperation will help reduce the prevalence of gender-based violence (GBV) in families.

The appeal was made on Thursday during a one-day workshop held at Carnet Hotel in Kisoro Municipality. The event brought together human rights defenders, journalists, and other stakeholders to discuss the importance of unity in combating human rights violations.

Abiro Mercy, Project Officer at AIIJ, urged journalists in Kisoro to collaborate closely with human rights activists, as this partnership would help address issues such as corruption and human rights abuses. She pointed out that a lack of cooperation within the public is one of the main causes of human rights violations, stressing the need for collective action and unity.
