Kabale Grade One Magistrate Olupot Transferred to Kajjansi in Judiciary Shake-Up

KABALE: The Kabale Grade One Magistrate, His Worship Pascal Olupot, has been transferred to Kajjansi in the latest judiciary reshuffle.

His Worship Opulot is among 58 Grade One Magistrates transferred to new stations on December 19, 2024. Additionally, the Judiciary deployed 35 newly appointed Grade One Magistrates to various stations across the country.

Her Worship Milly Chandiru has been appointed as the new Grade One Magistrate for Kabale District, replacing His Worship Olupot. In Rukungiri, Senior Grade One Magistrate, His Worship Hamidah Namukasa, has been transferred to Kiruhura District and replaced by Her Worship Joanita Nassali.

Meanwhile, His Worship Johnson Taremwa has been transferred from Rukungiri High Court to Buvuma and replaced by Her Worship Ritah Naturinda. The Judiciary has also deployed His Worship Patrick Mugisa as a Grade One Magistrate in Kanungu District.

The Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo, welcomed the new deployments and transfers, emphasizing their alignment with the Judiciary Transformation Agenda. “I am very happy to see that we now have 407 Grade One Magistrates. Our vision of enhancing access to justice is becoming a reality with each phase of recruitment of Judicial Officers,” he stated.

He urged the newly deployed Judicial Officers to serve with humility and integrity, making impartial decisions without fear, favor, malice, or discrimination. Justice Owiny-Dollo highlighted the importance of upholding the aspirations outlined in the Judiciary Strategic Plan V (2020/2021 to 2024/2025).

The Chief Registrar, Her Worship Sarah Langa Siu, conveyed that the transfers and deployments aim to enhance effective and efficient service delivery across Uganda.

“For some stations with high caseloads, we have deployed more Magistrates to manage the workload, and I am confident this will significantly reduce case backlogs among this cadre of officers,” she noted.

She reiterated the Judiciary’s commitment to ensuring the public achieves justice quickly and easily, in line with its vision of “Justice for All.” Her Worship Langa Siu urged Judicial Officers to uphold the principles of independence, impartiality, integrity, propriety, equality, competence, and diligence as enshrined in the Uganda Code of Judicial Conduct.

The deployments take immediate effect, while the transfers will be effective starting January 6, 2025.
