Kabale District LCV Chairperson Denis Nzeirwe Ndyomugyenyi has called on LCIII Chairpersons to take a leading role in monitoring service delivery within their respective sub-counties to ensure residents receive equitable, efficient and quality services.
Nzeirwe made the remarks during a meeting with LCIII Chairpersons and Sub-county Chiefs at the District Council Hall on Thursday, saying the engagement was intended to bring all district stakeholders on board to strengthen accountability, improve coordination and enhance service delivery across Kabale District.
He urged local leaders to take full charge of their sub-counties by setting ambitious local revenue targets and working towards increasing district revenue collection.
He also emphasized the need for close monitoring of government projects and programmes to ensure effective implementation and value for money.
Kabale Chief Administrative Officer Robert Mugabe commended the District Chairperson for his inclusive leadership style, noting that it fosters collaboration among stakeholders and contributes to improved service delivery.
Mugabe further urged sub-county leaders and technical staff to align their work plans, budgets and development priorities with the vision and manifestos of their respective LCIII Chairpersons.
He revealed that the district is targeting improved performance in the annual Local Government Assessment conducted by the Office of the Prime Minister, adding that stronger cooperation and institutional harmony will be critical in achieving this goal.
Meanwhile, Deputy Resident District Commissioner Michael Muramira Kyakashari challenged LCIII Chairpersons to take charge of security matters within their areas and regularly convene local security meetings to promote peace, stability and effective governance.
