According to police reports, Natukunda allegedly murdered Ainembabazi after accusing her of having an affair with his father.
The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, stated that Ainembabazi had left her husband’s home in early January 2025 to shop in Kampala, intending to open her own business.
However, upon her return, Natukunda allegedly assaulted her on suspicion of infidelity.
“It is alleged that in early January 2025, the deceased left her husband’s home for Kampala to shop for her business. Upon her return, her husband assaulted her, suspecting her of infidelity. On Thursday, he ambushed her and killed her with a panga, which he later abandoned in his father’s sweet potato garden across the road,” Maate stated.
After committing the crime, Natukunda reportedly called his biological brother, Nicolas, and confessed. Nicolas then informed their father, Alex Kwehangana, who reported the incident to Kabale Police Station.
The Kabale Police Homicide team, led by District CID Officer Hakim Mukama, examined and documented the crime scene. The body was later transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem, while statements were recorded from key witnesses.
