KABALE: The Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament, Honorable Catheline Atwakiire Ndamira, has generously donated over 5000 Kuroiler Chicks to 27 women groups in Kabale Municipality in a bid to bolster household incomes and uplift livelihoods within the area.

Having previously extended support by donating piglets and goats to various groups in rural areas with in Kabale District, Honorable Atwakiire has now turned her attention towards households in urban centers. The Kuroiler Chicks, renowned for their resilience and suitability to urban environments, were today distributed to the beneficiary groups by the Kyanamira Sub County Lc5 Woman Councilor who doubles as the Kabale District Local Government Finance Minister, Bridget Asinga who represented Honorable Atwakiire at Ndorwa Primary School playground in Kabale Municipality.

According Honorable Asinga, the acquisition of these chicks was made possible through lobbying efforts by Honorable Atwakiire with the National Animal Genetic Research Center (NAGRC), a government organization. Recognizing the practicality of raising Kuroiler Chicks in urban settings compared to rural areas, Honorable Asinga emphasized the importance of this initiative in addressing the needs of urban-dwelling women.

Honorable Atwakiire’s overarching objective is to bolster community livelihoods and augment household incomes, thereby combating poverty in the area. She underscored the significance of diligent care for the chicks to optimize their productivity, emphasizing the potential returns from egg production and the sale of manure.
