Police in Kanungu District are still stuck with the body of an unidentified female adult who was discovered tied with ropes and stuffed in a sack before being dumped in River Ntungwa.
According to Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Elly Maate, efforts to rally the public for identification have so far yielded no results, as no relatives or family members have come forward.
The gruesome discovery was made on Saturday at around 3:00 PM by a group of boys who were fishing in the river. They spotted a green sack stuck in the water and, upon opening it, found the lifeless body inside.
Maate confirmed that the crime scene was visited, examined, and documented. The body was later retrieved and taken to Kanungu Health Centre IV mortuary for a postmortem examination.
   He noted that the body appeared fresh and is believed to have been killed and dumped the same day.
Maate urged the public to check with the mortuary in case a loved one is missing, and assured that investigations are ongoing to identify the victim, the perpetrators, and the motive behind the killing.
