Police in Hima Division, Kasese Municipality, are investigating a tragic incident involving the death by drowning of Bwambale Paul, an 18-year-old herdsman and resident of Ruhita Village, Hima Parish, Kitswamba Sub-county.
According to police reports, the deceased was grazing goats around 7:30 PM when one of the animals escaped toward a community valley dam to drink water. The goat drowned, and in an attempt to rescue it, Bwambale also drowned.
Hima Police Division Commander, SP Suzan Nerima Bwire, and her team responded promptly to the scene. However, due to the darkness, rescue efforts on the first night were unsuccessful.
SP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Region Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident, adding that the search operation has entered its second day with the support of local residents to help retrieve the body.
