The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Kisoro District, John Nyakahuma, has written to the District Police Commander (DPC), Ben Niwamanya Kashumbusa, calling for an investigation into serious corruption allegations within the District Service Commission, specifically targeting the commission’s secretary, Fransisca Rwakare.
In a letter dated July 2, 2025, and copied to the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), the District Chairperson, the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations, and all media houses, Nyakahuma urged the police to launch a formal investigation into the allegations surrounding the commission.
This move follows a resolution passed during the Kisoro District Council meeting held on May 29, 2025, in which councillors overwhelmingly voted to suspend Rwakare and initiate a formal probe into her office.
The motion was introduced by Kazimil Wilson, councillor for Chahi Subcounty, and seconded by Agaba James of Southern Division and Juliet Kamusiime, who represents Nyanamo Town Council and Bukimbiri Subcounty.
During the session, CAO Nyakahuma expressed his full support for the council’s decision, emphasizing that any action taken would strictly follow legal procedures.
In his follow-up letter, CAO Nyakahuma directed the DPC to apprehend any individuals found culpable in the ongoing investigation. He also assured the public that his office is prepared to take disciplinary action against any public officer implicated in the scandal.
