KISORO – The Kisoro Resident District Commissioner, Hajji Badru Sebyala, has warned residents living along the border against the illegal hosting of refugees fleeing the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo.

This caution comes in the wake of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces withdrawing from their previously occupied territories in the Eastern part of the country.

As Uganda withdrew its forces, an increase in the influx of refugees has been observed entering the Democratic Republic of Congo through the Bunagana border. RDC Sebyala emphasized the importance of Ugandans adhering to legal limits when dealing with Congolese individuals entering Uganda.

Sebyala asserted that regardless of any existing bonds between Ugandans and Congolese, nobody is allowed to host a refugee. He stated that all refugees must report to the Nyakabande transit center for screening and subsequently obtain refugee permits.
