MBARARA: The Mbarara District Veterinary Officer, Dr. Andrew Akashaba, has been elected as the President of the Uganda Veterinary Association (UVA).
Dr. Akashaba succeeds Dr. Daniel Kasibule, the Mpigi District Veterinary Officer, who served as the association’s president from 2021 to 2023. The UVA limits the president’s term to two years.
Dr. Akashaba was elected on Friday during the conclusion of a week-long farmers’ exhibition, symposium, and Annual General Meeting held in Mbarara.
The Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries, Frank Tumwebaze, congratulated Dr. Akashaba on his election, commending him as a proactive and farmer-oriented officer.
“Congratulations, Dr. Akashaba (DVO Mbarara), on your election as President of the Uganda Veterinary Association. I have always known you as a hands-on officer, very responsive to farmer needs,” Minister Tumwebaze said.
He also assured him of his full support and extended his congratulations to other elected council members.
