RUBANDA: The Minister of Finance (General Duties), Henry Ariganyira Musasizi, has encouraged local leaders in Greater Bubare Sub County, Rubanda District, to prioritize “politics of interest,” emphasizing that this approach is essential for the prosperity of their community and the country.
Minister Musasizi made these remarks on Saturday while meeting local government leaders from Greater Bubare Sub County at his residence in Bushure Village, Mpungu Parish, Hamurwa Sub County, Rubanda District. He explained that adopting a politics-of-interest approach would help leaders align their priorities with the core principles of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
Highlighting the importance of following the “mass line” an NRM principle since its inception that prioritizes the needs of the masses over those of the elite, Minister Musasizi urged the leaders to focus on developing infrastructure, health, and education in the sub-county.

About Kabale City:
Kabale is one of four regional cities created by Parliament in 2020, alongside Moroto, Nakasongola, Wakiso, and Entebbe. However, the government has repeatedly delayed their operationalization, citing insufficient funds.
Minister Musasizi told leaders, “I want to see people pressuring us to construct new roads, rehabilitate existing ones, and demand developments like factories that benefit everyone, rather than cities that serve a few.”
He noted that the government is still grappling with funding administrative units created in the last political term, such as town councils. He argued that regional cities, such as Kabale, are economically unviable and drain resources through administrative costs without significant contributions to the national economy.
“We have learned that some people are pushing for Kabale City to create more constituencies and serve their political interests. This is selfish. That money would be better spent on roads, industrialization, and other projects benefiting a broader population,” Minister Musasizi stated.
Symbolic Instruments of Power:
In appreciation of his leadership, leaders from Greater Bubare, led by Milton Tayebwa, Chairman of the Greater Bubare Leaders Association, presented Minister Musasizi with symbolic instruments of power, including a shield, tool, and spear.
Tayebwa, who also serves as the LC1 Chairman for Kabindi Village in Nyamiyaga Ward, Bubare Town Council, explained that these items represent an endorsement for Musasizi ahead of next year’s NRM primary elections.
Tayebwa praised Minister Musasizi as a valuable asset to the electorate in Rubanda East County, Rubanda District, and Uganda as a whole, reaffirming the support of local leaders for his candidacy in the upcoming elections.
