IGANGA – The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope IV has issued a stern warning to Kingdom officials against selling Kingdom Land.
Kyabazinga issued this stern warning during his 9th Coronation Anniversary celebration at Namungalwe saza ground in Kigulu Chiefdom, Iganga district on September 13th, 2023.
Thousands of his subjects attended the ceremony.
In a special announcement, Kyabazinga emphasized that the ObwaKyabazinga Bwa Busoga Institution does not sell its land; it only leases it to organizations that develop ObwaKyabazinga Bwa Busoga.
He urged those with claims on Busoga Kingdom’s land to visit the Busoga Kingdom headquarters in Bugembe to re-verify their documents.
Kyabazinga also mentioned that he holds the exclusive authority to grant leases on Busoga Kingdom land.
Additionally, he granted express powers of attorney to Busoga’s Prime Minister, Dr. Joseph Muvawala, which are duly registered with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau.
During the celebration, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of East African Affairs, Rt. Hon Alitwala Rebecca Kadaga, read President Yoweri Museveni’s speech and congratulated Kyabazinga on his marriage.
She introduced Busoga Tourism queens led by Miss Tourism Busoga, Mercy Tenywa, to Kyabazinga and the entire Busoga community.
Busoga Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Dr. Joseph Muvawala, announced the formation of a committee led by Eng. Batumbya, tasked with organizing the wedding ceremony of the Kyabazinga and his wife/Inhebantu of Busoga, scheduled for November 18th, 2023, at Christ Cathedral Bugembe.
The celebration concluded with Kyabazinga cutting a cake and sharing it with his subjects.
