LUWERO: The NRM Deputy Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Rose Namayanja, has urged party supporters in Greater Luwero to actively participate in the display and update of the party membership register, which begins today, Wednesday, 29th.
Speaking in Wobulenzi Town Council at a function appreciating President Yoweri Museveni’s efforts in fighting household poverty through the Parish Development Model (PDM) on Tuesday, Namayanja encouraged NRM members to verify their voter registration status.
“Check if your name is in the National Electoral Commission voters’ register. Those who are not registered should do so to be able to vote in the coming elections,” she advised. “From tomorrow, the NRM will display its membership register in villages—go and verify your details.”
She assured those who missed last year’s March update, including students who were at school, that they would still be registered and eligible to vote in the upcoming NRM primaries.
Namayanja praised President Museveni for improving livelihoods through PDM funding, explaining that previous government programs, such as the Youth Livelihood Program (YLP), the Women Empowerment Fund, OWC, and NAADS, were less effective due to district-level management.
“By bringing the program to the parish level, we have ensured easier access for the people,” she noted.
She also lauded PDM’s success, stating, “No government program has been as impactful as PDM because people have the freedom to decide how best to utilize the funds.”
However, she condemned corruption within PDM committees, warning, “Anyone found sabotaging this initiative will face the law. You should not pay anyone to be included in the program.”
She emphasized that beneficiaries should receive the full one million shillings on their phones without deductions.
“If anyone refuses to disburse your funds, report them to your leaders or the Resident District Commissioners’ (RDC) offices,” she urged.
Luwero RDC, Ntulume Lwabye, reaffirmed his commitment to addressing complaints about PDM committees shortchanging beneficiaries.
He encouraged recipients to use the funds wisely and return them to the SACCOs to ensure sustainability as a revolving fund.
