LUUKA: The NRM National Treasurer, Ambassador Barbara Nekesa, has urged young people to join the ruling party, stating it is the only hope for stability and prosperity for all Ugandans.
Speaking in Luuka district during the third-anniversary coronation of the Baise Matende Clan Leader, Amb. Nekesa emphasized that the youth should not be misled into believing that the NRM is a party for the elderly. Instead, she highlighted that the NRM accommodates people of all ages.
“I have served in various capacities as an MP, Minister, Ambassador, and now as National Treasurer while still in my youth. This is proof that the NRM offers opportunities for everyone to thrive,” Nekesa said.
Mrs. Nekesa also commended the local community for their involvement in productive activities, while discouraging the practice of land fragmentation among family members.
“It is detrimental to divide family land into small plots, as this practice hinders meaningful production and leads to poverty,” she noted.
She thanked the residents for their longstanding support of President Museveni and the NRM, and encouraged them to continue backing him in future elections. “I urge you to give him overwhelming support in the next election,” she added.
Amb. Nekesa assured the clan leader that she would expedite the requests presented to President Museveni.
As part of her contributions, Nekesa donated 5 million shillings towards clan development and an additional 2 million shillings for the community church.
