A 36-year-old agricultural officer in Rukoni and Rwoho Town Councils, Ntungamo District, has been arrested in connection with the murder of his wife.

The suspect, Rodgers Tayebwa, allegedly killed his 33-year-old wife, Akampurira Racheal, who served as the Town Agent of Rukiga Central Ward, Mpora Town Council, Rukiga District.

According to Rwizi region Police Spokesperson Samson Kasasira, the incident occurred on February 9, 2026, around 10:30 PM.

Kasasira explained that while the couple was riding a motorcycle from Kyamugashe Rwemiyaga Ward, Kakukuru Rwenanura Town Council, to Rubaare Town Council, they were reportedly attacked by unknown assailants.

The attackers allegedly beat the wife to death with sticks, while her husband managed to escape and seek help.
