Police in Ntungamo District have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of Naekeree Kedress, a resident of Butare Ward in Kauhunga Sub-county.
According to a statement released by police on Friday, the deceased’s body was discovered hanging in front of her house.
She had been living with her grandson, who reported that two men had grabbed and strangled her before staging the scene to appear as a suicide.
“When the police sniffer dog, Yudah, was introduced to the crime scene, it picked up a scent and tracked it for about one kilometer to the home of Mercy, the deceased’s daughter-in-law, who was subsequently arrested,” the police statement read.
Police say that Mercy has since named three accomplices. Two of them have been arrested, while the third remains at large.
