Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu has dismissed as fake the running kits circulating on social media ahead of the Omusinga’s Birthday Run slated for November 14, 2025.
According to the Kingdom, the kits being shared online are not official and did not originate from the event’s organizers.
Hon. Geofrey Kanyonyi, the Minister of Information, Mobilization and Spokesperson of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, clarified that the official kits have not yet been released to the public.
He said the authentic kits, bearing classified symbols, will be unveiled on Thursday and sold to participants at a fee that will be formally communicated.
The run is intended to raise funds for the establishment of a new Kingdom radio station, tentatively named Omulenge We Kithwa. The station will focus on restoring cultural values and norms, preserving the Kingdom’s language, promoting civic education, and creating employment opportunities in the Rwenzori region.
“We have noted the graphics and designs being circulated online, but they are not authentic. The Kingdom and organizing committee will release the official kits,” Kanyonyi said.
Despite the circulation of fake kits, Kanyonyi expressed optimism, saying the overwhelming interest, particularly among the youth, demonstrates strong support for the forthcoming Birthday Run.
The Kingdom is targeting at least 10,000 participants for the event.
