Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, Julius Hakiza, confirmed the operation, stating that the vehicle was intercepted on Sunday, December 8, 2024, between Kakindu and Kihuna along the Hoima road. The action followed a tip-off from a concerned resident.
“The occupants fled the scene, abandoning three cows in the vehicle, one of which was already dead,” Hakiza said. He added that documents found in the vehicle suggested the cows originated from Kasangati in Wakiso District.
Preliminary investigations, however, indicate that the cattle were stolen from Butema Sub-county in Hoima District.
“We are collaborating with the local community to identify the rightful owner of the animals,” Hakiza noted.
