KISORO – Residents of Gahiza village and Boda-Boda riders in Busanza sub-county, Kisoro district yesterday implemented a community plan to address the impassable state of the road connecting Nyarubuye-Busanza and Kirundo sub-counties.
Often used for transporting goods, the road had deteriorated over time.
Godfrey Nsabimana, the vice chairperson of Gahiza village in Busanza sub-county, expressed gratitude to the residents and Marrum provider Fortunate Habyara Gatare. Gatare’s efforts, raising 21 lorries of Marrum, were particularly praised for saving lives, especially those of pregnant mothers.

Jorum Hagabimana, the LC5 councilor of Busanza sub-county, thanked former police commissioner Fortunate Habyara Gatare for financially assisting in procuring Marrum. He disclosed plans for the road’s construction using a grader-type tractor, urging residents to collaborate when the construction phase.

Residents Richard Mivumbi and Benon Nkurunziza from Gahiza village shared that they initiated road repair manually, awaiting leadership support for a tractor, which never materialized. They appreciated Fortunate for jumpstarting the road project, thereby alleviating transportation costs in the region.
