Rubanda District has announced an ambitious development agenda for the 2026/27 financial year, with major investments planned in health, education, water, and road infrastructure.
The District Chief Administrative Officer, Samuel Ahabwe, revealed the plans while addressing journalists at the district headquarters on Tuesday, saying the projects are aimed at improving service delivery and boosting socio-economic development across the district.
Ahabwe said the district has already completed its recruitment process, with all newly recruited staff having reported for duty.
He noted that the district will complete the construction of the district administration block at a cost of Shs 600 million, as well as the district health office block valued at Shs 244 million.
In the education sector, the district will construct new classroom blocks at Bukwata, Kelele, Bugarama, and Nyamasizi Primary Schools. It will also build VIP latrines at Mukyibaya, Isingiro, Kagoye, Ndego, and Burimbe Primary Schools to improve sanitation and provide a better learning environment.
Under the water sector, Ahabwe said the district will continue supporting farmers through micro-irrigation schemes. He added that the district will complete the Bushuura Water Supply System at a cost of Shs 53 million and protect six natural springs at Shs 20 million to improve access to safe water.
On road infrastructure, the district plans to prioritize the construction of road crossings and routine road maintenance to improve transport and connectivity.
Ahabwe attributed the district’s continued development to the strong collaboration between the political and technical leadership, as well as the support of Finance Minister Henry Musasizi, whom he credited for championing development initiatives in Rubanda District.
