RUKIGA – The Deputy Managing Director of Finance and Corporate Strategy at the National Water and Sewage Cooperation, Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe, has distributed 35,000 hoes and panga’s to enhance agricultural productivity among households as part of her efforts to empower the community in Rukiga District.
The distribution campaign, which commenced in January 2024 and covered the entire district, concluded yesterday in Kamwezi Sub County with a primary goal to empower households, fostering economic and social well-being by encouraging increased participation in agriculture.
Maureen Kyarisima, the Personal Assistant to Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe, emphasized that the main objective of the campaign is to empower households, enabling them to overcome poverty and transition into a money-based economy.
She dismissed claims of the initiative being an early campaign strategy, highlighting Dr. Sylvia’s longstanding commitment to driving positive change in the community. Kyarisima referenced the Deputy Managing Director’s previous projects aimed at improving household income in Rukiga District.
