Security has been heightened in Ndorwa West Constituency and other parts of Kabale District due to rising tensions surrounding the National Resistance Movement (NRM) sub-county elections.
Godfrey Nyakahuma, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) and head of security in the district, confirmed the deployment of security personnel in several sub-counties, including Butanda, Kahungye, Maziiba, and Buhara. He said the move is aimed at ensuring a peaceful and orderly electoral process.
Speaking to our reporter, RDC Nyakahuma noted that the deployment was prompted by increased tensions in the area. While the LC1 Chairperson elections were marked by unrest, he said the elections for LC2 Chairpersons have so far proceeded peacefully across the district.
RDC Nyakahuma emphasized that the security presence is intended to prevent chaos and intimidation, creating an environment where voters can vote freely and transparently.
