KABALE – Residents of Kanyankwanzi Village, Bukora Parish, in Kitumba Subcounty of Kabale District are desperately searching for a child who was swept away by torrential rains this evening.
The victim has been identified as Pearl Amumpeire, a nursery kid of Kanyankwanzi Primary school in Bukora parish in Kitumba sub county and a daughter of one Twinomujuni, who is the son of one Bariyanga, both residents of the same area. According to Davis Muhereza, the LC3 Chairman for Kitumba Subcounty, the heroic efforts of residents managed to rescue one child, Favor Ampeire.
Muhereza, speaking to our reporter, confirmed that the relentless downpour wreaked havoc by destroying numerous crop gardens, roads, and homes, severely disrupting transportation and rendering several families homeless in the area.
The most severely affected villages include Kanyankwanzi, Kizorera, and Nyakato, all within Kitumba Subcounty. Muhereza expressed grave concerns about the looming threat of hunger among the residents and urgently called upon the government to intervene and assist those in need.
By Press time, Residents and local leaders, led by Muhereza, were still searching for Amumpeire and assessing the extent of the damages inflicted by the calamity.
