Kasese District was on Tuesday gripped by shock and fear following the discovery of two lifeless premature babies dumped in separate locations.
The first body was discovered in Kamulikwazi Water Channel II near the former Bugema University–Kasese Campus premises in Saluti A Cell, Kasese Municipality along the Kasese–Fort Portal Highway. Aloysius Badanga, the Local Council One Chairperson of the area, said the premature baby’s body had been wrapped in a polythene bag and dumped in the channel.
Meanwhile, residents of Nyakasanga West in Nyamwamba Division were also left in shock after the discovery of a nearly seven-month-old fetus in the Kamulikwazi water channel. The Local Council One Chairperson for Kizungu Cell, Phenehas Wakibanahi, confirmed the incident and strongly condemned the act.
He urged men and women who feel unprepared to raise children to seek appropriate guidance and support rather than resorting to such actions.
However, Badanga says that the cases are deeply disturbing to the community.
