KABALE: The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has summoned Kabale-based journalist Rodgers Asiimwe, commonly known as Obwengura International, following a petition filed against him by the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna.
In a letter dated January 17, 2025, Bishop Akanjuna formally complained to the UCC about what he described as “consistent abusive misinformation and disinformation” allegedly spread by 101.5 K-Town Radio in Kabale District, particularly through program hosted by Asiimwe.

Bishop Akanjuna expressed concern over what he sees as a persistent disregard for broadcasting laws and regulations, which he believes has contributed to a decline in public respect for church leadership.
Despite previous attempts to resolve the issue amicably, he stated that the problem has persisted, prompting him to seek the UCC’s intervention.
In response, the UCC, in a letter dated March 3, 2025, and signed by Acting Executive Director Susan Wegoye, summoned both Bishop Akanjuna and Asiimwe for a meeting at the commission’s headquarters in Bugolobi.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM.

“Kindly ensure the attendance of the station manager, editor, producer, and program host,” Wegoye emphasized in the letter.
