United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party Secretary General, Senator Hassan Omar, on Thursday hosted a delegation from Uganda’s ruling party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM), at the UDA Party headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Ugandan team was led by Maj. (Rtd) Awich Pollar Awich, the NRM’s Director of External Affairs.
The consultative meeting focused on strengthening key shared values between the two parties, including democracy, nationalism, pan-Africanism, patriotism, and economic transformation, aimed at improving the lives of citizens in both Kenya and Uganda.
Maj. (Rtd) Awich, accompanied by Col. Okei Rukogota from NRM’s National Leadership Institute – Kyankwanzi, outlined the NRM’s agenda centered on good governance and patriotism.
The Ugandan officials are part of a larger delegation led by NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, who is in Kenya on a three-day official visit at the invitation of Sen. Omar.
The visit is a reciprocal gesture following a UDA delegation’s tour to Uganda in February, which was headed by Sen. Omar.
One of the key items on the agenda is exploring how the NRM’s Leadership Institute can support UDA in establishing its own Leadership Academy, an initiative currently underway within the party.
Rt. Hon. Todwong arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Thursday evening, where he was received by UDA National Treasurer Hon. Japheth Nyakundi, along with UDA Directors Daniel Kiptoo, Rob Jillo, Grace Gicovi, Nathaniel Mongare, and others.
The visit is expected to deepen the relationship between the two parties, which are led by President William Ruto of Kenya and President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda.
