NEWS- Following the warning issued by Aero Link Uganda to cease operations at Kisoro Airstrip due to its deteriorating infrastructure, the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority has responded by identifying safety concerns and engaging a contractor for runway, taxiway, and apron resurfacing.

In a letter dated 12th December 2023, signed by Vianney Mpungu Luggya, the Manager Public Affairs at Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, it was clarified that the contractor is currently on-site, preparing to commence the necessary works this month.

Mpungu emphasized that the government, through Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, plans to upgrade Kisoro Airstrip’s runway, extending its current length of 1200 meters to a longer runway.

He mentioned that pre-feasibility studies have been completed, and further steps, including full feasibility, engineering designs, and environmental and social impact assessment studies, are in the planning stages.
