KABALE: The Kabale Municipality Mayor, Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha, has said that Kabale City will become operational in early 2025.

This declaration comes in response to public skepticism regarding the city’s establishment. Criticism from various quarters prompted Mayor Byamugisha to address concerns, particularly those alleging deliberate obstruction.

Among the detractors, Kabale district Moslem Council chairperson, Hajji Issa Tindyebwa, expressed disappointment with politicians who seem to oppose the city’s operationalization. He highlighted the contributions of visionary leaders like former Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, who championed the idea of Kabale attaining city status. Tindyebwa lamented the discord among political figures, suggesting that personal and religious interests may be hindering progress.

However, Mayor Byamugisha remains resolute in his stance. He emphasized that Kabale City’s approval by the Cabinet signifies its imminent establishment stating that the municipal council, under his leadership, is diligently preparing for the transition. Byamugisha reassured the residents of Kabale that the city’s development trajectory is irreversible. He condemned attempts to thwart the process, labeling them as futile endeavors. According to him, all necessary preparations have been made, with the only outstanding issue being the delineation of boundaries.
