The Buyanja Myroots (BMR), a community-based development association has equipped 24 schools in Buyanja Sub-county and Buyanja Town Council in Rukungiri District with ICT equipment worth Shs 35 Million in a bid to boost education and digital literacy in the area.

The equipment was officially handed over on Thursday at Buyanja Town Council headquarters to school head teachers through the office of the Rukungiri Chief Administrative Officer.

Dr. Adrian Beinebyaabo Bwankwindi, Chief Mobilizer and Pillar Head of Buyanja Myroots, said the donation is part of the association’s broader “Give Back” initiative under its 13 development pillars. BMR, founded in 2017, now boasts more than 3,000 members dedicated to uplifting their community.

However, Dr. Bwankwindi expressed concern over the lack of electricity in some recipient schools, which may hinder the immediate use of the donated computers. He urged school administrators to protect the equipment from theft and develop sustainable plans to maximize its use.
