Police in Kabale District have arrested eight Senior Four students at Kigezi High School for allegedly inciting violence amidst the ongoing Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations.

SP Nelson Tumushime, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, said the suspects were being held at Kabale Central Police Station as investigations continued.

The arrests follow a mini-strike at the school in which windowpanes and a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera were reportedly destroyed.

Tumushime said police officers responded swiftly to the incident and that further arrests were underway.

He added that police had maintained their deployment at the school to restore order and prevent further incidents.

The police spokesperson described the students involved in the strike as a small group of troublemakers whose actions should not be allowed to disrupt learning for other students.
