RUKUNGIRI: Authorities at Kinyasano Girls High School in Rukungiri District are striving to raise 360 Million shillings to support needy students.
According to the school’s head teacher, Allen Kiyasiimire, these funds are intended to support 100 needy students for at least four years. In an effort to raise funds, the school celebrated its 40th anniversary and collected 30 million shillings in cash and pledges.
Kiyasiimire lamented the shortage of staff, including lab attendants, librarians, secretaries, and particularly science teachers. She noted that the school struggles with financial constraints, as it must pay many staff members appointed by the government without receiving corresponding funding.
Kiyasiimire also expressed the need for expansion due to increasing student enrollment each year. Established in 1984 with three classes (Senior One, Two, and Five), the school now has an enrollment of 630 students and exclusively provides education for girls.
