KISORO: Ngezi Primary School Toilets in Ruins, Parents Fear Disease Outbreak

The school, which currently has an enrollment of 303 pupils, was established in 1956 as an Anglican Church school and became government-aided in 2000. Despite its long history, construction of sanitary facilities has remained a persistent challenge due to the rocky terrain, which makes it difficult to dig long-lasting latrines.

The current toilet structures have been in use for over 15 years and are now completely worn out, causing alarm among parents.

Edward Wegihugu Salongo and Nsangira Robert, both parents at the school, voiced their fears over the health risks posed by the unsanitary conditions. They warned that diseases such as cholera and dysentery could easily spread among pupils, teachers, and nearby residents if the issue is not addressed urgently.
