Kisoro Vision SS to Represent Uganda in East Africa Debating Championship 2023

KISORO – Kisoro Vision Secondary School in Kisoro District has earned the prestigious opportunity to represent Uganda in the upcoming East Africa debating competition, following their remarkable second-place finish in the 2023 Uganda National Schools Debate Championship.

Their outstanding performance secured them 253 points, coming in just short of the first-place winners, Greenhill Academy, who scored 258 points. The highly anticipated East Africa debating competitions are scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, this November.

The national debate championship unfolded from the 28th of August to the 2nd of September and was skillfully organized by the Uganda National Students Association (UNSA). The event garnered participation from a total of 110 secondary schools from across the country, with the vibrant debates occurring at St. Lawrence School in Mpigi District.

Notably, the competitions are an annual affair meticulously orchestrated by the Uganda National Students Association and proudly supported by the Uganda Aids Commission, carrying the poignant theme of eradicating HIV stigma in Uganda.

Dan Munyambabazi, the Director of Kisoro Vision Secondary School, expressed his sentiments during an interview with our reporter. He passionately addressed the doubters within Kisoro who may underestimate the capabilities of their community, their children, and their schools when it comes to competing in various aspects of life.

Munyambabazi emphasized that his school is resolute in demonstrating to the naysayers that they excel not only in academics but also in diverse disciplines.
